Daniel Mendoza. An accomplished entrepreneur and founder of Good News Magazine. And with a background that is everything but ordinary.
Daniel Mendoza was born 1972 in Uruguay in a time when the country was governed by the military. Torture of political prisoners was an everyday occurrence and people disappeared without a trace. Daniel?s parents were peasants and he was born at home in their house. Daniel is the middle child with three older sisters, one younger brother and three younger sisters. His early days started as a refugee from Uruguay, fleeing with a his family at the age of three. After some years spent on the run in refugee camps in Paraguay and Brazil, he came to Sweden, at the age of nine. Witnessing cruelty up close, having abusive parents, and his father ending his life when Daniel was 17, violence and insecurity has been a constant part of his youth.
Determined to turn things around, he studied hard at Stockholm School of Economics and started to work in the financial sector as investment manager and credit specialist. There he remained for ten years, before he made a leap and took a life-changing decision, convinced that the world needed to be counterbalanced, wanting to try to counter all negative forces with kindness and goodness. To make good by being good. To let kindness feed kindness, to pay it forward.
He founded Good News Magazine, with the goal to spread optimism and belief in the future, and to radiate a profound conviction that all people possess the ability to solve whatever problems we face today. That we together can change bad to good.
Named the Happiness Promoter of the Year 2012 by the Global Happiness Organization, Daniel Mendoza is today a peaceful warrior on a mission to make the world a better place for all living creatures, through conscious optimism, constructive involvement, compassion and respect for life. Good News Magazine is just the beginning.
